Photography, like any art form, allows the opportunity to portray something needless of textual description under its surface, therefore illustrating the seemingly intangible. I’ve always been drawn to emotionally striking photographs that create an overwhelming emotional pull or sense of connection upon first glance. Only a fraction of photography, portraiture has the power to reveal the deep, often hidden aspects of an idea, mood, or photographed subject from their simple glance within the surrounding atmosphere. For this reason, I've naturally gravitated toward portraiture of some variation that aims to speak volumes without words – instead through visual connection that fosters diverse interpretations. Other gallery collections reflect my tendencies to find such impactful themes tucked into the everyday of our broader landscape.

 

Photography is also a much more personal means of my self-expression, and therefore even if the subject matter is initially unclear – perhaps with my double exposures – their overall atmospheres convey the tone of their abstract concept. With photography in general, as with art, this idea of abstraction surfaces in some way simply by visually depicting a physical form and having that visual depiction represent a broader meaning. Put simply, I believe photography is an opportunity for expression and human connection that often feels out of grasp, mentally and physically. Whatever the result, interpretation lies in the hands of the viewer.
